Why Telegram is different
Unlike indexed websites, Telegram content lives in channels and groups that aren't always searchable, and new channels appear quickly to replace removed ones. That makes continuous monitoring — not a single report — the only approach that keeps pace.
How removal works
Public channels and messages can be reported for copyright to Telegram's DMCA contact, and intimate content shared without consent can go through the abuse/NCII route, which is often faster.
- Collect the t.me links to the offending channel and messages.
- File a copyright (DMCA) report, or the NCII/abuse report for intimate imagery.
- Re-report replacement channels as they appear.
- For private intimate images you never published (not content you sell), a StopNCII case helps its partner platforms block re-uploads elsewhere; Telegram is not one of them.
What openDMCA does and its limits
openDMCA does not scan Telegram today; that is planned. On the Pro and Agency plans, a t.me link you add goes through the takedown ladder: a DMCA notice to Telegram's published address (dmca@telegram.org), a follow-up, then a report on the whole channel to Telegram's abuse address. Each post is re-checked on Telegram's public page, and when a channel disappears all of its posts are closed. openDMCA does scan the leak forums, file hosts and search results where Telegram sets get mirrored, and those copies can be removed through the host and search routes. Telegram acts on public content only, so private channels and invite links can't be reported this way; for intimate imagery the NCII route is the path. Telegram acts on valid reports but timing and outcomes vary.
