How to check whether Google Search still lists a URL
The manual check takes about fifteen seconds and costs nothing, and it is worth knowing because this page's automated version is capped.
Search for site: followed by the full URL, with no space after the colon — for example site:example.com/some-page.
A result for that exact address means Google Search still has it indexed. No results means it does not.
Do it signed out or in a private window. A signed-in session personalises results enough to make a borderline answer unreliable.
Two traps. First, site:example.com without a path tells you about the domain, not your page, and a busy domain will always return something. Second, a page that has genuinely been delisted can still show a stale cached title for a while, which is not the same as being indexed — what matters is whether the URL is returned now.
The same check on Bing uses the same site: operator, and the two search engines answer differently often enough to be worth checking separately.
Where checking the Google Search index by hand stops working
For one URL, the manual check is faster than this tool and openDMCA will not pretend otherwise. It breaks on repetition.
Verification is per URL and never ends. Filing a delisting request for two hundred addresses produces two hundred separate questions, none of which Google answers directly. Doing that by hand once takes an afternoon; doing it weekly does not happen.
Removals lapse. A page that moves to a new address is a new URL and is indexed afresh. Delisting is granted against an address, not against content, so anything that changes the address undoes it.

The tool says the URL is gone but I can still open the page. Why?
Delisting removes an address from search results. It does not remove the page. The file stays online at the same address and stays reachable to anyone with the link, which is why a host takedown and a search removal are both worth filing.
Does a no answer mean my removal request was granted?
It means the address is not returned right now. That is usually because the request was granted, but a page can also drop out because the host removed it, or because it moved. The check reports the state, not the reason.
Can I check Bing the same way?
Yes, using the same site: operator in Bing. The two engines index differently and a URL delisted from one often stays live in the other, so treating them as one check will miss things.
Does the URL I paste get stored?
No. It is sent to the search API to run the query and then discarded. What is kept is a salted hash for the rate limit and the cost of the call, neither of which carries the URL or anything about you.
